Prepping a large Phareodus Encaustus |
|
The
fossil fish I have comes out of the 18" level of the Green River formation
and the split fish level. The 18 inch level fish come from a State leased
Quarry known as the Jackson Quarry. These are not like the split fish from
Wyoming where as the rock is split and there they are. The 18" are covered
up they need to be prepped and are generally much better quality.
I dig
these fish at night with lights and it shows a covered up silhouette of the
fish, we then saw them out using a masonry saw. I cannot dig any of these
until after the 15 July Because of a Eagles nest close to the quarry. The
split fish I start digging the 1st of May. The split fish come from a
private leased Quarry known as the Thompson Quarry.
My
time is pretty well taken up digging these Fish from the 1st of May until
the frost sets in . Both quarries are located near Fossil Butte Wyoming and
Kemmerer Wyoming. I also dig and prep Utah and Idaho Trilobites when I'm not
in the fish Quarry.
